Sheriff Gene A. Kelly and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office want to ensure all children in the area have a great Halloween experience. This year “Trick or Treat” for all of Clark County including the Cities and Villages will be on Saturday October 31st from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Sheriff Kelly has assigned extra Sheriff’s Patrols in the County to help keep criminal activities from occurring. The Sheriff would also like for parents to be aware! There are over 224 registered sex offenders in Clark County. Your child could be knocking on the door of a convicted sex offender. Use the following Halloween Safety Tips to help protect our most vulnerable.
- ALWAYS check www.sheriffalerts.com or the Clark County Sheriff’s web page at www.clarkcountyohio.gov for registered offenders in your neighborhood.
- NEVER allow children or teens to Trick or Treat alone.
- ALWAYS accompany young children to the doors of homes they approach.
- NEVER allow kids to enter a home without permission from a parent.
- NEVER allow children to approach any vehicle unless they know the owner.
- ALWAYS have children carry a flashlight or glow stick.
- NEVER approach a house that is not well lit.
- ALWAYS scream, kick and punch anyone who tries to grab or force kids to go with them.
- NEVER consume unwrapped prepackaged treats.
- ALWAYS ensure costumes fit well, are flame retardant, and never obscure visibility.
