Thayer Honored as Citizen of the Month

Seeking to recognize students who are making Tecumseh High School a better place to be, the high school faculty has selected William Thayer IV as December’s Citizen of the Month. Thayer, the son of William Thayer III, recently won a medal in bowling at the Special Olympics and is a member of the Arrows bowling team. He has completed projects with the Ohio Department of Disabilities and CRSI (Champaign Residential Services, Inc.) Thayer assists the high school custodial staff in the school cafeteria wiping tables, sweeping floors, and emptying trash. According to his nomination, Thayer puts a lot of effort into all that he does daily at THS. Thayer credits Tecumseh teacher Mrs. Laura Wright and classroom aide Mrs. Jennifer Lewis with helping him develop his work ethic.

Gomez Named December’s Rotary Student

Elizabeth Gomez, daughter of Serafin and Marivel Gomez, was honored at the December 15th meeting of the New Carlisle Rotary Club. Ranked first in the Class of 2016, Gomez plans to attend either the University of Cincinnati or Wright State University with a biological science major within a pre-med program. As a member of National Honor Society, Gomez has done volunteer work for the high school’s Sadie Hawkins dance and the March of Dimes. She has also volunteered at the New Carlisle Public Library. Gomez was the recipient of the Most Improved Player award in soccer. One of her favorite high school memories was scoring a goal against Graham on her birthday. She will also participate in winter and spring soccer. Her senior class schedule includes Advanced Study in Art, Spanish 3, Honors Physics, and Advanced Placement courses in American Government, English, and Calculus. Gomez recognized AP Calculus Teacher and Varsity Soccer Coach Mr. Craig Lindsey as her most influential teacher. “Mr. Lindsey has helped me become a better person and has influenced me to make the right decisions in both soccer and school,” said Gomez.
