Ohio State Highway Patrol's Aviation Section provided assistance from above in tonight's search.

Springfield Police were involved in a chase that led them into Bethel Township Thursday evening.

According to Lt. Kranz of the Springfield Police Division, officers tried to serve warrants on Jonathan Rockey in Springfield. Rockey then hopped in a tan Trailblazer and fled.

Ohio State Patrol troopers placed stop sticks on Lower Valley Pike at Enon Rd. and Rockey hit them, blowing out his tires. He continued on his rims to Spangler Rd. just north of Union Rd., then fled on foot.

Springfield Police, Clark County Sheriff Deputies and Ohio State Patrol troopers searched the area unsuccessfully.

The Ohio State Patrol brought in a helicopter with heat-seeking equipment, but they were also unsuccessful.

Rockey apparently had two warrants for assaulting a police officer.

The search was called off shortly after 10:30 p.m.

“We probably won’t be looking for him tomorrow morning,” said Kranz. “Warrants never go away. We’ll find him sooner or later.”
