An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) has been charged with sexually assaulting a 52 year-old female patient while in transport from a hospital in Dayton, Ohio to a care facility in Springfield , Ohio on December 11, 2015.

 Samuel P. Conkel, 24, is charged with one count of Sexual Battery and one count of Gross Sexual Imposition.

 On December 11, 2015 at approximately 9:00 p.m. a female patient was released from Miami Valley Hospital to be transported to Southbrook Care Facility in Springfield , Ohio by employees of First Care Ohio, LLC Ambulance Service. Samuel P. Conkel was the attendant with the female inside the ambulance during the transport. During the transport the female patient reported she was in and out of consciousness due to receiving medication from hospital staff prior to the transport. The female patient reported that at one point during the transport she became aware of Samuel P. Conkel putting his hand inside her shirt and bra fondling her   breast.

 When the female patient arrived at Southbrook Care Facility the female patient reported to the staff that she felt that something sexually inappropriate had happen to her while being transported.

 The staff at Southbrook Care Facility then contacted the Clark County Sheriff's Office and reported the incident. Clark County Sheriff Deputies and Detectives immediately conducted an investigation and collected physical evidence used during the transport of the female patient.

 On March 1, 2016 a search warrant was executed to obtained a DNA standard from Samuel P. Conkel.

 The collected DNA standard from Samuel P. Conkel along with the recovered physical evidence was submitted to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for DNA   analysis.

 On March 23, 2016 the Clark County Sheriff's Office received notification from the Ohio   Bureau of Criminal Investigation, that the DNA analysis comparison of the DNA standard taken from Samuel P. Conkel and the stain identified as semen found on a blanket covering the female patient was identified as belonging to Samuel P. Conkel.

 On April 6, 2016 Samuel P. Conkel was taken into custody and was booked into the Clark County Jail. Samuel P. Conkel will appear in Clark County Municipal Court on April 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m .
