IMG 6118The Tecumseh Arrows close out the regular season with a tough 58-51 win against the Bellefontaine Chieftains Friday night in New Carlisle.

The Arrows won the Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail Division Title. This their first title since the 2009-10 season.

Arrows head coach Roger Culbertson talks about his team’s win and how important it was for his seniors.

“It’s nice for the seniors. It’s their last game at home and a lot of memories were created with this group of kids.”

In the first quarter, the Arrows senior starting five fell behind on the scoreboard quick but were able to stay in the game with the help of senior Malik Quisenberry, who scored seven points along with two rebounds.

Chieftains go up 11-15 at the end of the first quarter.

Going into the second quarter, the Chieftains went to full court trap but it they left holes in the defense and the Arrows were able to capitalize.

With 18 seconds left in the half, the Arrows went to the trap and cause a Chieftains turnover and turn into last second points.

The Chieftains still ahead in the score and led 22-27.

Coming out of halftime, the Arrows picked up their energy and started to making things happen.

The Arrows continued to play full court defense causing turnovers that led to points.

The Chieftains led by as much as seven points in the third but that was cut short by the tandem of the Malik and Darius Quisenberry, who, put up a combined 14 points in the quarter.

After three quarters, the Chieftains lead 38-42.

Heading into the final quarter, the tables were turned as the Arrows began to comeback.

The score alternated back and forth between both teams but with a clutch three-pointer from Darius Quisenberry to give the Arrows a 52-47.

The Arrows began to pull away and go on to win 58-51.

Senior Malik Quisenberrry played in his final home game at Tecumseh and scored a game-high 28 points along with six rebounds, one steal, and one block.

Darius Quisenberry went on to score 24 points along with six rebounds, one assists, and three steals.

The Quisenberry Brothers scored a combined 52 points for the Arrows.

Coach Culbertson praises the Quisenberry Brother for their performance.

“They’ve been big all year. Both of them especially Malik carrying us in the first quarter and Darius he’s a nice basketball player. They do it all.”

The Arrows close out the regular season with a seven game win streak and look to continue that streak in post season play against the Sidney Yellowjackets.

The game will be played in Vandalia at Butler High School.

Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
