On senior night at the high school, the Tecumseh wrestling team had an easy match against Springfield Catholic and Springfield High School.

The Arrows defeated SCC 59-9 and knocked off Springfield 51-15.

“All of our seniors have put in their time,” said Tecumseh coach Michael Herbert. “All of them are four year guys, and Tristan Taylor has picked up his 100th win, which is good for the Heavyweight class.”

“There goal is to get to state, and now the time has paid off.”

Senior Will Rose was out with an injury, but the other three seniors, it was business as usual.

At 145, Steven Marker was 2-0 on the day, as he raised his record to 20-9 overall. Michael Herbert also was 2-0 at 160, picking up two easy pins to run his record to 18-6. Finally at 285, Taylor was 2-0 and is now 23-3 on the season.

“Here at the end of January and early February, it’s kind of a lull for us.” Herbert said. “Our focus turns to the post season. The CBC is something we shoot for, but the kids are looking forward to districts.”

“We have 8-9 guys with a chance to get to districts, and 3-4 possibly to state.”

The Arrows are at Sidney tonight for the State Duels, and head to Ben Logan on Saturday for the Raider Invitational.
