As the holidays are now behind us, the Tecumseh Arrows enjoyed their holiday season competing in the GMVWA Holiday Tournament last week at Wright State University, where several members of the Arrows wrestling squad competed in the annual event.

Weighing in at 106 was Kainen Hackney, as the Tecumseh freshman earned two wins in the winners bracket, as he defeated Lance Roberts of Chaminade Julienne in 1:22 and Eric Bridegens of Bellbrook, also by pin in 5:01. Hackney was then defeated by Cole McGuire of Miamisburg in 3:02, dropping into the consolation bracket.

There, Hackney lost to Avery Ramsey of Hilliard Bradley by default.

Gavin Sineff from Tecumseh won his first match at 113, defeating Torin Foster of Bellbrook in 33 seconds, but was sent to the consolation round with a loss by pin to Kobey Bronaugh of Milford in 33 seconds. Sineff lost his next match to Dawson Show from Graham in 2:27.

At 120, the Arrows’ Joe Campbell lost his opening match to Bailey Munday of Big Walnut in a 1:29 pin.

Campbell recovered to win his next two consolation matches, defeating Desmond Diggs of Xenia 4-0, then Nathan Wagner of Versailles 4-0, before losing to Isaiah Worthman of Chaminade Julienne in 4:07.

Tecumseh freshman Cyle Wells lost his opening match at 126, as he fell by a major decision to Zach Williams of Delaware Hayes, before knocking off Chris Weadlick of Eaton by pin in the consos. Wells was then defeated 12-6 by Keegan Moran of Hartley.

Weighing in at 132 for the Arrows was Simon Herbert, as the sophomore lost his first match to Bailey Suddeth of Butler by a pin on 2:24. Herbert then was eliminated by Steven Mangen of Versailles in the second period by a pin at 3:45.

Freshman Alec Hall defeated Alex Schmidt from Hillard Bradley at 138, as he picked up a pin in 2:38 to advance to the second round. After picking up a forfeit to advance to the elite eight of the winners bracket before falling to Salim Mardis of Simon Kenton in 3:46.

At 145, the Arrows’ Tommy Rowe also won his first match, defeating Chip Riechman of Summit Country Day with a pin at 2:21, but then lost in the third round by pin to Tristin Garcia of Male to drop into the consolation bracket. There, he won two matches by defeating Alex Ham of Sidney 10-2 and pinned Jhett Peck of Xenia in 2:22, before falling to Brian Howell of Campbell County by pin.

In the 152 pound class, Hunter Elam won by forfeit to advance to battle Dylan Miller of West Branch where the Arrows’ Elam lost in 1:35. Once in the consolation round, Elam lost to Hunter Thornsberry of Newark by a pin in 3:17.

Samo Olejniclek lost by pin in the opening round at 160, as the Tecumseh junior dropped into the consolation bracket. There he lost his opener to Zach Joering of Campbell County in 2:15.

Competing at 195 was Brandon Henn, who lost his opening macth to Max Beckman of Glen Este in 3:52, but came back and won his first consolation match against Christian Michael of Eaton in 3:42 before getting pinned and eliminated by Nate Jackson of Hartley.

Chad Suttles was quickly pinned at 220 by Greg Wilson of Swanton, and Mike Dunlap of Pickerington Central in the consos.

At 285, Greg Asher lost his opener to Braden Jacobs from Bellefontaine, and forfeited his consolation match to Jordan of Chase Jordan of Greeneview.
