The Tecumseh High School Class of 1976 celebrated its 40th reunion on Sept. 16th and 17th with a variety of events. Friends gathered from as far away as Japan, France, California, and all around the country to celebrate and get reacquainted.

The festivities kicked off with the home football game, where members of the class gathered under a tent to watch the Arrows defeat Northwestern. Following the game, there was an informal gathering at the Tavernette Inn in Medway.

Saturday morning several classmates gathered at Penny Lane for coffee and lively conversation. Finally, Saturday night was the big event at Celebrations Banquet Center in Dayton featuring a memorial to honor the 35 classmates who have passed away, followed by a banquet dinner and dancing. Pastors Jim Kane and Terri Grant led the class in a touching memorial service with the class circling a memorial tree decorated with ornaments representing each deceased classmate. Those in attendance could say a few words in memory of a lost friend.

Everyone in attendance had the opportunity to win over 30 door prizes donated by community businesses and fellow classmates and their families. The class also made a donation to the Tecumseh Vietnam Memorial Project that originated as an Eagle Scout project by John Burchett.

Committee members who helped plan the events were Nora Wilburn Hillard, Pam Peters Mustovich, Carrie McFarland Lemaster, Linda Dinwoody Mercer, Sue Wix Shira, Cindy Durall Gulden, Pete Avnaim, and Tim Cahall. Plans are already in the works for the 45th reunion in 2021!
