Gavin Wasson intercepts a pass intended for Trey Blevins of Greenon.

The Tecumseh Arrows (3-2) win their third game of the season against the winless Greenon Knights (0-5) 42-8 Friday night in Enon.

Arrows head coach Chris Cory shared his thoughts on his team’s win.

“We wanted to come out and take care of business and get our work in. I thought we did just that. We did a great job at scoring in the first half so we were able to get some younger guys in the second half. So it was a good game overall.”

Knights head coach Kevin Ferguson expresses his displeasure with tonight’s loss.

“Not happy in the first half, we didn’t play game speed. We still don’t deal well with adversity.”

In the first quarter, the Arrows came into the matchup on fire, scoring within the two minutes.

The Arrows got a quick touchdown from running back Jayden McFarland and 21 seconds later Gavin Wasson scores 1-yard touchdown off a Trey Blevins (Greenon) fumble that was recovered by Brody Martin.

Arrows go up 14-0 with 10:28 in the first quarter.

The Knights couldn’t get anything going on offense resulting in failed fourth downs attempts.

Knights running back Trey Blevins didn’t have a successful night, fumbling twice in the first quarter.

The Arrows regained possession and Wasson rips off a 45-yard touchdown to increase the Arrows lead 21-0 with a minute left in the first.

At the beginning of the second quarter, the Knights punted to the ball only for Kenyon Watson to run a 55-yard touchdown for the Arrows, giving the Arrows a 28-0 lead.

The Arrows scored two more touchdowns to end the half and take a 42-0 lead going into halftime.

Coming out off halftime, the Knights played with some urgency, stopping the Arrows offense on all their possessions in the second half.

Levi Morrison of the Knights saw more work out the backfield due to Blevins’s slippery hands, which Morrison eventually led the Knights inside the 10-yard line.

In the fourth quarter, the Knights received their first points of the night with a Cooper Chaffin touchdown and also converted the 2-point conversion.

The Arrows controlled the clock for the remainder of the quarter and wrapped the game with a 42-8 victory.

Next week, Tecumseh will head home to play the Bellefontaine Chieftains (2-3), who are coming off a loss to undefeated Benjamin Logan Raiders (5-0).

The Knights will stay home a face the Shawnee Braves (2-3).

The Braves beat a winless Northwestern 35-0.

Both games begin at 7pm.
