Nobody except for the guys who had worked so hard to prepare for what turned out to be the game that would shock the baseball world around the Buckeye state.

The Arrows shocked Butler 4-3 in the second round of the sectionals, and one of the guys who had worked hard to help the Arrows achieve that moment was a junior who had already established himself among the best athletes in the Central Buckeye Conference.

Hunter Hensley recently completed his junior year at Tecumseh and not only was he a key part of the Arrows late baseball surge, but he was also an integral part of the Arrows football program.

“The biggest influence in my high school sports career has been my family,” he said. “I have always had a passion for sports.”

While baseball is his favorite of the sports that he plays, he was also named first-team all-conference the past two years on the gridiron in the fall, and was named first team CBC and second-team all-county and all-area in baseball this past season.

The next couple of months will be big for Hensley as he prepares for his senior season with the Arrows, and like any other senior, going out on top in the league is at the top of the list.

“I want to win the CBC and always give 100 percent,” he said. “I also want to have a good attitude, stay positive and set a good example.”

“During the off-season, I plan to do weight training and speed training at the high school and Enhance U.,” Hensley said. “In the winter, I work out with my summer baseball team, the Springfield Heat. I just plan to work hard in the off-season doing tee work every night.”

Hensley is also involved in FFA and wants to continue his career at the next level in college, studying sports medicine.
Hensley hit .349 for the season with a team high 15 runs scored and 29 hits. He also had three homeruns, good enough for second in the CBC, and a team high 24 runs batted in.
