It was definitely a special year for the teams near the top of the Central Buckeye Conference. Not only did Tecumseh’s boys and girls basketball teams win the league title, but Tippecanoe’s girls team advanced to the regionals finals.

The top players were also honored recently as the coaches of the teams met to select the all-conference teams in both the Kenton Trail Division and the Mad River Division.

CBC Girls- On the girls’ side, Tecumseh senior Lindsey Nartker was named the Kenton Trail Division Player of the Year, as Nartker led her team to the title. She averaged 20.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3 steals per game, and shot 59 percent from the field and 68 from the line.

She was joined on the first-team by teammate Danielle Franklin, a senior who averaged 12.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.7 assists and three steals per game.

Tecumseh freshman Corinne Thomas was also named first-team, as she had a solid first year with the Arrows. She averaged 15.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2.7 steals per game, while shooting 36 percent from the three-point line.

Tippecanoe senior Aubrey Cox and sophomore Allison Mader were both named first-team, as Cox was part of eight seniors that led them to the regionals. She averaged 10.6 points, 9.1 rebounds and shot 52 percent from the field for the Red Devils. Mader, one of only two sophomores on the team, averaged 11.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, while adding 2.5 assists and three steals.

Named to the special mention team from Tipp was senior Cassidy Wasson and Tecumseh freshman Presley Griffitts. Sportsmanship Award winners were Tecumseh senior Caroline Smith and Tippecanoe senior Sammie Rowland.

In the Mad River Division, Northwestern and Greenon placed players on the list as well. Senior Korynne Berner led the way for Northwestern being named first-team, averaging 12.5 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists per game. Fellow senior Katelyn Partlow and junior Abby Zerkle also made first-team. Partlow averaged 9.7 points, 5.9 rebounds per game, while Zerkle scored 14.7 points per game.

Greenon senior Macey Hardy made first-team, averaging 10.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.

Named to special mention were Jenna Robbins of Northwestern and Maleigha Young of Greenon. Sportsmanship Award winners were Bailey Benedict of Greenon and Cameryn Ciresi of Northwestern.

CBC Boys- Tecumseh sophomore Darius Quisenberry was named as the co-Player of the Year in the Kenton Trail Division of the CBC, averaging 22.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3.5 steals per game for the Arrows. Malik Quisenberry also made first team, with good numbers (17.9 points, 3.9 rebounds).

Tippecanoe senior Carter Mann and Jakob Prall also earned a spot on first-team. Mann averaged 8.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, while Prall contributed 6.4 points per game.

Named to the special mention was Rylan Magsaysay from Tecumseh and Nathan Shirley from Tippecanoe. Sportsmanship winners from each team were Caleb Linder of Tecumseh and Joe Tesch of Tippecanoe.

Over on the Mad River Division, Northwestern placed two players on the first-team, as Ryan Cleland and Kurt Waters have a spot. Cleland averaged 6.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, while Waters came in at 13.7 points, 9.9 rebounds per game.

Greenon had one player on first-team, Austin Swope, as he averaged 10.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

On special mention were Tim Blasé of Greenon and Ellis Ulery of Northwestern. Sportsmanship award winners were Andy Horton of Greenon and Liam Randall of Northwestern.
