It’s a tradition that was started a few years ago between Tippecanoe and Tecumseh’s wrestling programs.

Like the girls’ last weekend, the area boys’ basketball scene knows their opponent as the sectional basketball tournament draw was held on Sunday at various locations.

It all came down to one bakers game, and the Tecumseh Arrows were so close.

Tecumseh needed a miracle on Friday night, trailing host Kenton Ridge by 14 points headed to the final quarter and was outplayed for three quarters.

Both Tecmseh and Troy maintained their lead in their respective conference after last week’s bowling action, as Tecumseh boys’ leads the CBC and Troy’s girls’ squad comfortably sits in front of the GWOC North division.

It was the trip of a lifetime for both the Tippecanoe and Tecumseh girls’ basketball teams, as they both participated in the annual basketball extravaganza known simply as Classic in the Country.

With the highest scoring offense in the Central Buckeye Conference, the Tecumseh Arrows ran into a buzzsaw on Friday night, as they fell out of the lead they shared in the division, and fell to Shawnee 53-43.

On senior night at the high school, the Tecumseh wrestling team had an easy match against Springfield Catholic and Springfield High School.

Tecumseh opened their week with a very productive win over Shawnee, as the boys and girls teams both enjoyed victories.

IMG 7176Tecumseh’s offense gave coach Roger Culbertson 72 points in their non-conference game against Springfield last week, which for this team would normally translate into a victory.

Lindsey Nartker led the Tecumseh girls’ basketball team with a game high 28 points, as the Arrows knocked off fellow Division One opponent Northmont last week 72-58 to win their seventh game of the season.

Tecumseh BB1 1 7 15 1While Tecumseh came into their game with league rival Tippecanoe looking to hold onto first place in the Central Buckeye Conference, the Red Devils wanted to do whatever it took to spoil the Arrows perfect league record, and nearly did just that.
