Coming off a three week bye, the Ohio Crush returned to action and routed the Jackson County Patriots 55-12.

On May 14th, the Crush barely escaped with a 20-14 victory over the Patriots.

“We blew a lot of opportunities that first game, we knew coming in that this was going to be a tough game,” said Wilkie. “Honestly today our guys were very mentally prepared and mentally focused.”

In the first quarter, the Crush defense made an impact immediately.

The Crush defense intercepted the Patriots early in the quarter and then safety Josh Brown would record the second interception for a pick-six.

Brown gave the Crush an early lead 7-0.

Later, cornerback Jon Woods would record the third interception of the quarter.

That inception led to a Jon Mason and Lamar Taborn touchdown putting the Crush up 14-0.

Going into the second quarter, the Crush continued to add points in a dominating fashion.

Jon Mason threw his second touchdown of the day but this time connecting with speedster receiver Vance Taylor, who was wide open due to blown coverage from the Patriots, making the score 21-0.

The Crush showed no mercy to the Patriots quarterbacks, recording sacks and pressuring them all afternoon.

The Patriots soon would catch a break scoring their first points of the day but then had their extra point blocked and was recovered by Jon Woods and takes it back for two points.

The score would be 23-6 with 2:15 left in the half.

Later, Mason threw his third touchdown from 10-yards out and that increased the score 29-6 with 40 seconds left in the half.

On the Patriots next possession, cornerback Robert Redd nabs an interception and the Crush take over with 23 seconds left.

On the ensuing Crush possession, Mason connects with Marcus Woodard as he leaps over the defender for six.

The Crush goes into halftime with a commanding 36-6 lead.

Going into the third quarter, the Crush open the quarter with the ball but are quickly forced to punt deep in their territory.

The next offensive possession for the Patriots resulted in a touchdown, which put the score at 36-12.

The next Crush offensive drive resulted in another touchdown with Mason and Woodward connecting again, making the score 42-14.

The Crush controlled the remainder of the third quarter scoring again, ending the quarter with a 49-12 lead.

Heading into the fourth quarter, the Crush we in complete control and ran away with the game adding another touchdown to the score and would go on to win 55-12.

Mason completed 20 of 28 passes for 313 yards and six touchdown passes and rushed for one touchdown.

The leading receivers were with Marcus Woodard seven catches for 101 yards and two touchdowns and Vance Taylor finished with three catches for 86 yards and two touchdowns.

Tramell Hayes led all rushers with 29 yards on eight carries.

The Crush now improves to 9-0 and become OFL South Conference Champs and next Saturday will travel to Columbus to face the Columbus War Eagles.

In May, the Crush beat the War Eagles 50-0.

That game will be played at Dublin Coffman High School on 6780 Coffman Road at 5 p.m.
