Northwestern saw its girls’ bowling team qualify for the state meet last Friday in Columbus, and not only did they put together a strong team effort, they had three of the top ten bowlers at the state tournament.

Sophomore Megan Fricke put together a three-game series of 207-249-171, rolling a 627 series placing her third overall in the state meet. Her teammate senior Madison Current also put up some quality numbers rolling 218-179-210 good enough for sixth place overall with a 607. Finally, senior Ashlyn Stollings finished the tournament 192-211-201 for a 604, and placed tied for seventh.

Also finishing in the top 30 from Northwestern was senior Ashley Garrett who rolled a series of 173-176-179 for a 528, and senior Dana Coyle finished 43rd in Ohio with her scores of 179-154-179, a 512 series.

Northwestern finished with a 3,510 total to advance into the bracket play as the top seeded team, just ahead of Coldwater who was second. Once in the eight-team bracket play, the Warriors defeated Galion Northmor to advance into the final four in Ohio.

The Warriors then lost to Willard to place third overall in the state.
