As the winter sports season is officially over for the Tecumseh Arrows, the athletes are transitioning over into spring sports, as the baseball, softball, tennis and track season begins next weekend.

The past winter sports season saw a lot of success and memories for many of the Tecumseh athletes. On the wrestling mats, the Arrows sent five wrestlers to the district tournament, and while none of them advanced to the state last weekend, it provided a glimpse of what next season could be like. All five of the wrestlers that made it to districts are freshman or sophomores, meaning they will come into year with a lot of experience on what it takes to make it deep into the post season. Those wrestlers were Hunter Elam, Tommy Rowe, Alec Hall, Lucas Rodgers and Cyle Wells.

Coach Scott Herbert went into this season with a lot of question marks with so many young wrestlers, but as he moves forward, the only question is how much improvements can these kids make and how much better can they get as they have their sights on the next level of possibly advancing to the state tournament.

*In the pool, Tecumseh sophomore Julia Randenburg looks to improve on her 50 and 100 Free times as the swimmer made it to the districts this winter, only to fall short of qualifying for the state meet. She will return with the experience and the drive to make an attempt to get to the next level. Fellow sophomore Michelle Murray is another swimmer who returns next season after an appearance at the districts. She looks to improve on her 100 back.

Graduating after a successful career with the Arrows is Hannah Peck who swam at the districts in the 200 Free.

*The Tecumseh bowlers continued to make strides of success as their boys’ team qualified for the districts after barely surviving sectionals on the last ball thrown to advance. Matthew Brown, Dylan Terrell, Allen Ward, Jay Woosley and Leo Williams were a key part of their success in the post season, as they look to continue to tradition of solid play for the Arrows.

As for the girls’ team, the group of Alaina Collins, Adrirenne Lutz, Keirsten Means, Maddie Dusko and Anna Ryman could not get through the districts, but they finished 6-11 on the season and hope to work on making positive strides, led by the freshman Collins and the junior Ryman.

*Coach Roger Culbertson saw the boys’ basketball team struggle at times this season, winning just five games on the season. They earned a pair of thrilling one-point wins against Kenton Ridge and Indian Lake, plus had a big win against Shawnee late in the season.

Clay Mastin put together a solid season for the Arrows, as he earned first-team all-CBC and was the leading scorer on the squad averaging 14.4 points and over four assists per game. Reid Hale also scored double figures on the season.

*Winning the CBC championship were the Tecumseh girls’, as they ran the table and advanced to the sectional finals. Despite a loss to Beavercreek, the Arrows put together quite a memorable season. Both sophomores Presley Griffitts and Corinne Thomas put up big numbers all season, and both received numerous awards. Fellow sophomores Macy Berner and Makenzie Pauley both had big moments throughout the season, while seniors Allison Berner, Haley Beel and Kara Willardson provided leadership.

Their only two losses in the regular season came to regional finalists Carroll and Alter, as they look to make another step next season, to get back to the district tournament.
