Robert “Bob” Baker, 92, passed away Friday, September 23, at Miami Valley Hospital.

He was born August 28, 1924 and was a lifelong resident of New Carlisle and a graduate of Olive Branch High School. Bob was retired from The Standard Oil Co.(SOHIO) and Bethel Township Trustees.

He enjoyed many years of farming in the local area, was a member of the New Carlisle Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and proudly served as part of the Tecumseh High School football “chain gang” for many years.

Bob led many Heritage of Flight Parades with his restored 1935 John Deere Tractor.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beverly Jane Baker; three daughters, Suzanne Stapleton of New Carlisle, Ohio, Lou Anne (Greg) Robinson of Richmond, Kentucky, Marianne (Roger) Freeland of St. Paris, Ohio; a sister, Jean (Satch) Wierenga of Beaver Island, Michigan. He also leaved behind four grandchildren, Josh (Chris) Stapleton, Beth (Jason) Elliott, Drew (Emily) Alexander and Bret (Erin) Alexander; as well as seven great grandchildren; Connor Stapleton, Carter Stapleton, Kaden Elliott, Brody Elliott, Wesley Alexander, Lainey Alexander and Eli Alexander; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Roger Baker and a sister, Jane Gascho.

Visitation will be 2-5 PM Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home, New Carlisle, Ohio. Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be in New Carlisle Cemetery.
