BRIAN HALK

56, passed away surrounded by family and friends Monday February 29, 2016, at his home in New Carlisle.

Brian was born November 26, 1959, in Springfield, Ohio to Bernard F. and Shirley Halk. He graduated from North High School in Springfield, Ohio, Class of 1978.

Lt. Halk was an active member of Bethel Twp. Fire Dept. He dedicated 30 years of his life serving his community, starting his career at Rockway Fire Dept. in Springfield Twp. where he became a certified firefighter and EMT. His career then took him to Bethel Twp. in 1994 and spent the rest of his career.

Due to his hard work and dedication he was given Lt. Rank in June, 2008.

He was a superior mentor to those he led and true friend to his brother and sisters in the fire service. Brian had a passion for airplanes for many years and could be found sitting at the end of the Wright Patterson runway on any warm sunny day watching the planes doing touch and goes. He shared this passion with his wife and many friends over the years attending countless air shows.

Brian was an avid fan of the Columbus Blue Jackets attending games with good friends Lorin and Diana Wear.

He is survived by the love of his life Brenda Halk, children, Kacie and spouse, Cory Lindinger, of Columbus, Oh, Kim and spouse Kristopher Randall, of Dayton, OH. Bobby Beckett, of Dayton, Oh. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Anna, AJ, Abbey, and Sophie. His side kick Karpis that enjoyed rides in the Engine next to his dad in the local Memorial Day parades. In addition, Brian is survived by his two brothers, Brett Halk, of Springfield, and Frank (Penny) Halk of Springfield, Oh. His childhood friend and evil twin Lorin Wear.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Shirley Halk, and sister, Ann P. Cooke.

Visitation was 5-8 PM Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio. Funeral service will be 10 AM Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery, Springfield, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Township Fire Department Association, 3333 Lake Road, Medway, Ohio 45341.
