An early morning fire destroyed this home on Edgewick Dr. Contributed photo

The Clark County Sheriff's Office and State Fire Marshall are investigating a fire that destroyed a home on Edgewick Dr. early Friday morning.

At 4:33am the Bethel Township Fire Department was dispatched to a call of a fully engulfed structure fire on Edgewick Dr.  Upon arrival crews discovered the roof of the home was completely on fire.

The fire department was able to extinguish the flames and save the surrounding structures. No injuries were reported.

"Although this was a major loss to the owners, it is another great example of the team work and collaboration we have with New Carlisle Fire Department and Huber Heights Fire Department" said Jacob King, Fire Chief of the Bethel Township Fire Department.  "The continued support we provide each other's communities is our effort to put our community first!"

According to reports, the house was recently vacated as the owner became ill and is staying with family.

Last week crews were dispatched to this address for a report of an overdose. The victim was deceased upon arrival.

The fire and the reported fatal overdose are under investigation.  We will update this story as more information becomes available.
