Though not unfounded, it is unusual that a native of New Carlisle would appear in a television show, but that’s exactly what’s happening this Sunday as Amy Harber co-stars as Mary Kay Glenco in Unusual Suspects on the Investigation Discovery Channel.

Harber said Unusual Suspects is a crime re-enactment series that brings to life the stories of real-life criminals and their victims.  In Sunday’s episode, Harber portrays Mary Kay Glenco, the girlfriend of a suspect.  Harber said the set was not rigidly scripted, and turned into improv at times, as the actors were only given a scenario with no set lines.

Harber, a 1991 Tecumseh graduate, said she got into modeling as a way to pay for college debt and ultimately ended up in Los Angeles because of the events of September 11, 2001.  She had signed a modeling contract in New York City just four days before the terrorist attacks, which grounded business in the entire city, so Harber made her way to LA, where she has lived for 12 years.

Before her appearance on Unusual Suspects, Harber appeared in a pilot for a medical re-enactment show that is still yet to be determined whether or not it will air.  She’s also done print ads for the city of Burbank, California, which surprised her on a flight a few weeks ago as she thumbed through the in-flight magazines.  Harber said she saw Burbank in the tourism section of a magazine and was surprised to see herself staring back at her in an ad, as she had not known it would appear in that magazine.  She’s also appeared in two episodes of 1,000 Ways To Die, in which, she noted, that she did not die either time.

Harber said she owes her success to her photographer friend Rob Deaton, who has been a part of her career since the beginning.  Late last year, she walked in Deaton’s Fall Angel Charity Show in Cincinnati—a two-day fashion show charity event.
