Silver Lake is referred to as a Kettle Lake, created as the last glaciers left Ohio, more than 10,000 years ago. Since that time on man has visited the site as prehistoric artifacts have been found in and around the area. Some time in the early 1950,s the Heberling family acquired the park and lake keeping the grounds open for families to enjoy many recreational activities. Though the park is now closed to the public, it still resides in the Heberling family.
