Pictured is Leonard Kouse at last week’s New Carlisle Historical Society meeting. Mr. Kouse is the only surviving member of the 1940 New Carlisle High School basketball state championship team and was the first president of the historical society. Mr. Kouse reminisced about his playing days and of the magic season that brought Tecumseh it’s only basketball state championship. Several family members of Krouse’s teamates were at the event, including Susan Smith the daughter of Jim Funderburg, Diana Brennemon Gordon the daughter of Richard Brennemon, and Jed Dickman the son of Joe Dickman. Mr. Dickman was visiting the area from South Carolina and heard about the meeting just hours before it started.
