Many Tecumseh Local Schools staff members attended the Power of the Purse dinner event benefiting the Dolly Parton Imagination Library on Friday, February 10th at the Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center in Springfield.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is a unique book-gifting program that promotes early childhood literacy by mailing a new age-appropriate book to enrolled children every month from birth until five years of age, creating a home library of up to sixty books before a child begins kindergarten.

Recognizing the importance of instilling a love of books and reading at an early age, this program received generous donations from The New Carlisle Public Library, Friends of the New Carlisle Public Library, The Rotary Club of New Carlisle, The New Carlisle Optimist Club, and the United Way of Clark, Champaign, and Madison Counties.

Ms. Maggie Bollar, New Carlisle Public Library Children’s Librarian, and Mrs. Karyl Strader, Park Layne Elementary Principal, served on the Power of the Purse Committee.

Families may now enroll eligible children online at usa.imaginationlibrary.com, at the New Carlisle Public Library, or at Park Layne Elementary School.
