At the March 22, 2018 meeting of the Bethel Township Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA), the members rejected a triple variance request from Andrew and Kendra Wise for an accessory building at 2750 Ginghamsburg West Charleston Road. The Wises currently reside at 1990 Cider Mill Way in Tipp City; however, they plan to build a residence in West Charleston. They would like to build an accessory building on the property that is 22 feet high at the peak and 4800 square feet. The property is zoned A-1 Domestic Agriculture. The maximum height for an accessory building for A-1 is 15 feet with a footprint of 2600 square feet. The requested building is almost double the size allowed and the specified height is almost 50% more than allowed. In addition, the proposed building is potentially in front of the front line of the house, which would require a third variance.

According to Wise, the proposed structure is necessary to accommodate a large recreational vehicle.

Given the excessive request beyond that specified by the zoning regulations, the BZA requested that the property owner explore other alternatives to the requested variances. They turned down the request.

The next meeting of the BZA is scheduled for April 26, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the Bethel Township Meeting Room.
