At the September 8, 2015 meeting of the Bethel Township Trustees, the trustees conducted a public hearing and approved the rezoning of the properties at 6665 and 6659 US 40.  The properties were rezoned from B-1 General Business to R-1AAA single Family Residential.  The public hearing and rezoning were conducted at the same trustee meeting to accommodate the current owner, Emma Underwood, who is in the process of selling the two properties.  The rezoning was necessary to align the zoning with the current use of the properties.  Although the properties were zoned for general business, they have been used as private residences for the last 20 years.  With the approval, the zoning is now current with the current use.

In addition, the trustees approved a resolution accepting the certificate of estimated resources along with the tax rates for 2015 as provided by the Miami County Budget Commission.

In the Planning and Zoning report, Jeff Green, Planning and Zoning reported that no applications or certificates were issued.  He also announced that the Bethel Township Zoning Commission would not meet in September.  However, the Board of Zoning Appeals will meet on September 24, 2015 to hear two cases.  The first case is a request from Dean Shoup of 7730 Windham Road to increase the total maximum size of an accessory structure from 1200 sq ft to 1265 sq ft to make an addition to an existing accessory structure.  The second case is a request from Robert and Cynthia Adams of 2500 US 40 to increase the maximum size of an accessory structure from 2400 sq ft to 4800 sq ft to add an additional structure on the property at 2534 US 40.  In addition, they requested to increase the height of an accessory structure from 15 ft to 24 ft.

For Zoning Enforcement, Green reported that he had received four complaints of high grass at 9530 Haskett Lane, 9385 Palmer Road, 6200 SR 571, and 6203 Scarff Road.  He also mitigated thee complaints of illegal signs on South Palmer Road, the corner of US 40 and SR 201, and the corner of SR 201 and SR 571.

For Planning and Zoning, the trustees passed a resolution declaring the property at 2568 US 40 a nuisance because of high grass and weeds and gave the township permission to abate the nuisance.

In addition, the trustees heard a complaint from a resident regarding the way the noise resolution was enforced.

The next regular meeting of the Bethel Township Trustees is scheduled for September 22, 2015 in the Bethel Township Meeting Room at 7:00 p.m.
